Ed Williams (Marseille, France)

Guitarist, harpsichordist and composer based in Marseilles, France, Ed Williams’ work is driven by a passion for the “misshapen pearl” of the Baroque, pushing him to explore the boundaries of music practice today towards free improvisation, noise, and electro-acoustic composition. https://edwilliams.xyz/

Heath is a cellist, a founding member of Community MusicWorks, former Associate Dean of Arts Leadership, at New England Conservatory (where he also led the Sistema Fellows Program and Sistema Fellowship Resource Center), and current Director of Development at Emmanuel Music in Boston.

Adagio & Fuga from Sonata for solo violin No. 3 in C major, BWV 1005
Sarah, violinist, joined CMW as a resident musician in 2017. From 2008 – 2013, Sarah was a member of the Apple Hill String Quartet, resident ensemble of the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music. Based in Kansas City from 2013 – 2017, Sarah enjoyed teaching a wide spectrum of students and received the 2015 Studio Teacher Award from the Missouri chapter of the American String Teachers Association. Sarah holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from  Stony Brook University, a Master of Music degree from the Yale School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University where her principal teachers included Pamela Frank, Phil Setzer, Peter Oundjian, and Miriam Fried.

Lisa Sailer (Providence, RI, USA) & Ivan Tan (Providence, RI, USA)
Viola Da Gamba Sonata no. 1 in G Major, BWV 1027
Lisa Sailer, violist, joined CMW in 2019. In addition to teaching individual lessons, she directs the newest and youngest ensembles in CMW’s Daily Orchestra Program. She also teaches at the Community Music Center of Boston, and was a Teaching Artist Fellow in the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s META (Music Teachers/Teaching Artists) Fellowship’s first cohort. A certified Alexander Technique teacher, Lisa incorporates body awareness and freedom of movement into her string teaching. She has been a guest Alexander Technique teacher and Teaching Assistant at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in New Hampshire, and has run Alexander Technique workshops in Alaska, Florida, and in between. She earned a Bachelor of Music in violin performance from SUNY Purchase and a Master of Music in viola performance from The Boston Conservatory. Ivan Tan is equally at home playing classical piano or rocking out on a keytar. Ivan has performed in venues ranging from the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music to the Rochester Fringe Festival. He is on faculty at Brown University, where he teaches courses on music theory, and is a Ph.D. candidate in music theory at the Eastman School of Music, where he is completing a dissertation on keyboard performance in 1970s progressive rock. Ivan also holds degrees from Brown and SUNY Purchase in music and applied mathematics.
