Janacek String Suite (1877)
This early work of Leos Janacek foreshadows the later musical style of this Czech master, and you may also hear an admiring imitation of Dvorak’s lush String Serenade, which Janacek had probably heard.

Brahms Quintet Op. 34
The celebrated “blockbuster” piano quintet by Brahms was written originally as a string quintet with two cellos. Although Brahms later destroyed the original, the CMW Players will perform a wonderful reconstruction of this version. Maybe you’ll decide it’s better for strings only!
