DC trip update: 2:00 pm at the NEAWhile Sebastian and Kirby participated in the White House ceremony and reception this morning, a group of 33 CMW students, staff, parents, board members, alumni, and a documentary crew visited with Senator Jack Reed at the Hart Senate Building and then went on a tour of the Capitol Building, ending up in the gallery of the House of Representatives. We made it back to the bus in time to quickly eat our pre-packed brown bag lunches and greet Jessie Montgomery who had flown in two hours earlier from an orchestra tour in Michigan. All aboard the bus, we headed over to the National Endowment for the Arts where we met up with Sara (who flew in this morning from Providence), Minna, and Sebastian's parents. Currently, the entire crew is rehearsing Anthem in the President's Committe conference room at the National Endowment for the Arts, readying themselves for a 2:30 performance. We're grateful for our annual support from the NEA, and now also for their gracious hospitality! -Heath Marlow, CMW staff (live from DC) |
