Join us in the open air as we kick off Community MusicWorks’ milestone Season 25!
CMW opens our 25th season with a celebratory concert at the Temple to Music in Roger Williams Park that centers around the theme of variation, reflecting the way CMW’s work grows out of a consistent mission that takes on new forms each year.
We are revisiting highlight moments from composer commissions throughout the season, starting with the Kompa Variations by Daniel Bernard Roumain, which CMW premiered in 2008. This piece was written for our professional quartet side-by-side with a youth quartet, and this time the ensemble will include alumni, current students, fellows, and core musicians.
The Clarice Assad piece Impressions begins with a theme and moves into variations that introduce the sections of the MusicWorks Collective ensemble, and the Handel – Halvorsen Passacaglia features a whiz bang set of variations, showing off the virtuosity of the violin and cello.
