SUMMARY:CMW Fellows in Concert
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nFellows Jake Pietroniro and Kamyron Williams present an afternoon of music\, spoken word\, and coffee. \nArt and music have the capacity to reflect and shape culture. Each work tells a story. In this event\, we explore stories of resilience and solidarity. \nThe Fellows Concert program\, curated by Teaching Artist Fellows Kamyron Williams and Jake Pietroniro\, reunites the Fellows Quartet featuring Lara Madden and Kimberly Fang. \nWorks include Paul Wiancko’s flash-piece Maniacal Swing and Daniel Bernard Roumain’s tribute to Rosa Parks String Quartet No. 5. The Fellows also team up with Resident Musicians Sarah Kim\, Jesse Holstein\, and Miguel Vasquez for Tchaikovsky’s tour-de-force composition Souvenir de Florence. \nThis in-person gathering is co-hosted by former CMW board member and local artist April Brown and features readings and music by CMW alumni AlexisMarie Nelson\, Liam Hopkins\, and Natasha Rosario DeChambeau. \nJoin us for an afternoon of music\, spoken word\, coffee\, and the fine company of friends. \nFellows Quartet and Guests*\nSaturday\, March 5 at 3 pm\nBell Street Chapel\, 5 Bell Street\, Providence\, RI 02909\nAdmission is free.\nClick here to reserve your seat. \nJoin us early (2 pm) for coffee and a chance to catch up! \n*To ensure the health and safety of all\, please be prepared to show proof of full Covid-19 vaccination status or a recent (within three days) negative Covid-19 test result. DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nTHIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT\, BUT STAY TUNED:\n“Songs of Refuge” will be filmed for an online presentation.\nSign up for our Enews to receive a link to our CMW YouTube channel upload\, or email Liz Cox at lcox@communitymusicworks.org for more information.\n \n**** \nJoin us Saturday\, March 26 at 2 pm for “Songs of Refuge\,” a highly anticipated collaboration between Community MusicWorks and Dorcas International Institute\, co-presented by Providence Public Library (PPL).  \n“Songs of Refuge” celebrates the joy and solidarity of community by bringing together local\, resettled musicians with the MusicWorks Collective in special arrangements of traditional songs from Iraq\, Syria\, and Iran. \nThis concert\, set at PPL’s beautifully restored Donald J. Farish Auditorium\, features works by composer Kareem Roustom\, including a world premiere that spotlights MusicWorks Collective violinist Jesse Holstein as he marks a two-decade career at CMW. \nDorcas International Institute of Rhode Island and Community MusicWorks have long shared a vision anchored in community and belonging. This event gathers both organizations in celebration of the common language of music.
