SUMMARY:Season 26 Opening Concert
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nThe MusicWorks Collective Season 26 Opening Concert features selected works highlighting a range of composers’ voices that together invite the listener on a rich and moving emotional journey. \nThe program includes Rhiannon Giddens’ At the Purchaser’s Option\, arranged for string quartet\, a poignant and devastating ballad based on a historic poster advertising the sale of an enslaved mother with a newborn child offered “at the purchaser’s option.” Samuel Coleridge Taylor’s Fantasiestücke for String Quartet brings us into a late 19th-century string sound world of lush textures and tender sonorities through five melodic character pieces.
