Songs of Darkness and Light: A Family Holiday Concert

Join us as Community MusicWorks presents its third-annual family concert – a musical celebration of the winter solstice. CMW’s resident ensemble, the MusicWorks Collective, is joined by acclaimed storyteller Valerie Tutson in a reading of Marion Dane Bauer’s The Longest Night, complete with musical illustrations by Bach, Holst, Vivaldi, and more. In Bauer’s award-winning children’s book, woodland creatures attempt to “bring back the sun” on the longest night of the year…but only the chickadee and its gentle song can persuade the light to return, reminding us of the hopeful power of music.

Author Marion Dane Bauer and illustrator Ted Lewin will be present to sign books after the show — a great holiday gift idea!
