Stock Gifts
A gift of securities may provide benefits to you as a donor, including a charitable income tax deduction of the fair market value of the gifted securities as of the date of the gift, and the elimination of a capital gains tax.  To make a gift of stock, contact Hilary Jansen, Director of Philanthropic Engagement at hjansen@communitymusicworks.org.

Matching Gifts
Double your impact with a matching gift! Many businesses offer a matching gifts program to its employees. Ask your company if it offers this program to help support cultural organizations.

Memorial and Honorary Gifts
A thoughtful way to honor or remember a person or loved one is to make a gift in his/her name. Your gift will be acknowledged by CMW, and a note sent to the honoree or family members of the person being remembered, so they know a gift was made.

Endowment Gifts
Make a gift to Community MusicWorks’ endowment and create a lasting impact on the life of this organization. Carefully managed by our friends at The Rhode Island Foundation, CMW’s endowment operates as a permanent savings and investment account, providing a reliable source of income each year.

Planned Gifts
CMW Sostenuto Society
When you make a planned gift to Community MusicWorks, you help to ensure that our programs will continue to make an impact for generations to come. Become a member of CMW’s Sostenuto Society* and join others who share your belief in our mission to create cohesive urban community through music education and performance.

*Sostenuto is a musical term that comes from the Italian verb sostenere, “to support or sustain.”

Lead the Way to a Future CMW Can Count On
In 2023, CMW was the recipient of a transformative anonymous gift that allowed us to build a $4M+ endowment. When you make a planned gift of any size to CMW, you build on that foundation all while providing tax benefits to you and your loved ones. Planned giving is simple and deeply impactful, and makes a powerful statement about your belief in CMW’s future. Consider one of the bequest, beneficiary, or other planned gift options below.

BENEFICIARY DONATIONS
Name CMW as a sole or partial beneficiary of your retirement plan. Naming Community MusicWorks as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), Keogh, qualified pension, or profit-sharing plan can be the easiest and most tax-efficient way to support CMW through your estate, since these may be subject to both estate and income taxes. When you name our tax-exempt organization as one of the beneficiaries of your qualified retirement plan, these assets pass to CMW tax free.

BEQUESTS
Name CMW as a beneficiary in your will, trust, or estate plan. A charitable bequest is an official statement in a will, a trust, or an estate plan, that designates a gift to a specific charity. Bequests are one of the easiest and most flexible ways you can leave a gift to Community MusicWorks. You can plan for the allocation of your estate while maintaining complete control of your assets in the present, and you can change your mind at any time.

CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITIES AND REMAINDER TRUSTS
Take advantage of options (using cash, stock or real estate) such as a charitable remainder trust, that provide you or a loved one with income for life while ultimately directing the principal to CMW (these gifts also entitle the donor to a tax deduction for a portion of the gift). Leverage charitable giving options, like charitable lead trusts, to transfer wealth to heirs with no (or greatly reduced) gift and estate tax consequences.
