Bartók and Friends

Béla Bartók’s String Quartets are considered by many to be the magnum opus of 20th-century chamber music: a master composer’s commentary on the traditions and experiences that informed his work. This month, the MusicWorks Collective tackles the iconic Fourth Quartet, presents it in the context of other powerful Hungarian music, and brings it to you: we’ll be popping up at your favorite haunts around town. “Bar talk” and Bartók.

The program includes works by Béla Bartók, György Kurtág, and Zoltán Kodály.
