Here’s to a great year!
Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year!Final VideosAfter a lot of hard work, we finally finished our videos. They were screened at the Providence Youth Arts Collaborative event, Roots & Rituals: A Creative Day for Creative People on May 10! See photos from the event here, and check out the videos below: Elvis R Malachy Malachy H (#2) Kirby V Video class, 5-10-10We finally got started on our (final project) movies! We wrote scripts for our movies that included stage directions, sound effects, characters, setting, scenes, etc. Before we wrote our scripts, Anne showed us videos to get us inspired. Here’s some preview information about our movies: Nate: “There’s a zombie nightmare on the loose… ” Kirby is really excited to see how she’s going to make her different shots with the video camera. Elvis is excited to come in on Saturday and work with Jori (thumbs up). Working on writing treatments for our videos! Video Class: Day 3Today we got tripods! It was a little scary – we didn’t want to break anything. We tried out tilting and panning with the cameras on the tripods. We learned that every movement has a knob or turny part to tighten or loosen the movement. Then we got on the computers and we took our videos from last week and we put them into iMovie and started making mini experimental films. “It was very fun.” – Dante Video Class: Day 2The first thing we did today was learn the controls of the camera. Then we saw a projection of things we could do with a video. We learned about tilting and panning (up and down and swiveling). Then we went outside to take some practice videos and photos. We went inside, learned how to upload the videos and pictures we took, and saw our favorite videos. “It was a good day.” – Elvis Video Class: Getting It Started (Day 1)Today was the first day of our video class! When we first came upstairs, we talked about ourselves to get to know each other. Then we talked about 4 different kinds of videos that we could make. They are documentary, experimental, stop motion, and narrative. We watched some examples up on the wall with the projector. Here are some of the films we saw: “All Talk,” “Light Control,” and “His Day” from the Fast Forward Program on the ICA Teens site We talked about how we felt about what we saw and what types of videos they were. After that we did two things. We made clips of ourselves by taking video and pictures on Photo Booth. While that was going on, we were also taking stop motion pictures of ourselves. We were modeling a credit sequence that Anne showed us. Some of us even got to dress up in some funny clothes. We’ll use it later in the class when we show our movies. Here’s what everyone had to say about today: “It was a great first day. It was interesting.” -Jessica Class photos are below; see other photos here! |
