Today in media lab i continued working on my remix piece battling josh. I plan on beating him in this contest even though i forgot what we will get for winning. I’ve been tryin to add a bass to my piece and will soon add a solo on top of the whole piece.
Paul O, 5-3-10Jeffry S, 5-10-10still doing my remix; still not done yet so i’m still stalling my piece; stay tuned :] Karl O, 5-3-10Today in Media Lab I created a track which contains part from a video called Leeroy Jenkins. In the beginning, the entrance of the track starts off with someone shouting “Leeroy Jenkins.” After the entrance of the track, a bassline starts. As the bassline goes on, a guitar comes in. As the track goes on, another person shouts Leeroy Jenkins. I’m going to keep working on it so I can share it next week. Josh R, 5-3-10Hey today wasn’t the most creative day I have had. I guess its one of those days… I am experiencing beat makers block. I had no creativity or idea of what to do. So today I learned mixing techniques and how to make better sounding kick drums. It brought back other things I learned from the media lab class. The thing I had to use was the EQ, which messes with the bandwidth and specific parts of a sound. Once again I’d like to thank Jori Ketten and Henry Kerins for taking their Monday afternoon to work with us kids and teaching us something new and innovative. Paloma’s WristOverheard at the Media Lab today“I feel like a mechanic.” (Said in reference to taking different pieces of a song and figuring out how to fit them together into a remix.) “I’m pretty proud of myself – I always wanted to make my own drum kit.” “This remix project is great; it makes us practice everything we know.” “This class saves me from trouble.” Josh: O.N.E. Music Competition, 4-26-10Hey its April 26. My name is Josh and today I used a new trick I learned from Henry using the flex option in Logic. It allows me to chop up sounds almost perfectly. The purpose of this was to create my own drum kit off of the free sounds off the song O.N.E. by a band. Today I felt accomplished and more professional since I had a goal of remixing a song and using things I learned to do so. I chopped up the samples and made my own drum loops in 3 with a meter of 4. Please listen =). – Josh Josh Loop Jeffry S, 4-26-10So today we cut stems from samples and made our own remixes, using different kick drums, basses, snares and all types of other sounds. My piece is still in the works but I’ll post it soon so you can listen. – Jeffry Paul O, 4-26-10Here’s the remix competition we’re working on Yeasayer Remix Contest Today in Media Lab Henry showed us how to sample from stems from samples so we tried remixing stuff. Basically what I did today was get a stem from a sample and then after that I played the instrument over it. The intro to my remix sounds kind of atmospheric and nonrythmic. It is still a work in progress since I only finished the intro. – Paul Video Class: Day 3Today we got tripods! It was a little scary – we didn’t want to break anything. We tried out tilting and panning with the cameras on the tripods. We learned that every movement has a knob or turny part to tighten or loosen the movement. Then we got on the computers and we took our videos from last week and we put them into iMovie and started making mini experimental films. “It was very fun.” – Dante |
