“Making Room for Youth Voice in Classical Music Spaces” was presented by Chloe Kline, Education Director, Community MusicWorks, with animation by Yahaira Morales, at the YOLA National Symposium, October, 2021.

YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles) is a learning program of the LA Phil that works with community partners to provide free instruments and high quality music instruction to children in under-resourced areas of Los Angeles. The YOLA 2021 Symposium centered around questions of adaptation. Change is constant, so how can we use that knowledge to make the changes we want to see in our field? Symposium attendees and speakers explored critical questions about how to embrace change and adopt a transformational approach to teaching, learning, and program design for a stronger future for our young people and communities.
