This blog was created with help from Liz Cox. A big thank you to her for making this blog possible!
The Student Committee is made up of three people: Kelly Clifton, Roma Taitwood, and Jannessa Ya.
Kelly is a Board Member with CMW and works at the Wheeler School. She is the Board Representative with the Student Committee.
Roma and Jannessa are co-chairs of the Student Committee and Student Board members. Both play the violin, are in Phase 2, and have been in CMW for around 10 years.
As Student Board members, Roma and Jannessa represent the student body of CMW. Student representatives are elected to the Board by their Phase 2 peers. Phase 2 is one of CMW’s student groups in which 8th-12th graders play music together and engage in discussion about a variety of issues.
The role of the committee is to act as an intermediary between the students and the Board of CMW and work on behalf of CMW students. Roma and Jannessa bring their perspective to the work they do, ensuring that students are not forgotten.
The Student Committee wants this student blog to improve communication and connection within CMW in the absence of most in-person interaction. As more in-person interaction takes place, this blog can still be a great way to stay updated.
Although student-centric, we hope that this blog reaches people all across the organization and even outside it! Look forward to future postings of various content, from student submissions to interviews and updates.
If you would like to contact the Student Committee with any comments, questions, feedback, or submissions for the blog, please email studentcommittee@communitymusicworks.org.
